How Efestad works
Efestad oral solution is an anti-allergic drug that does not cause drowsiness. It helps to control allergic reactions and their symptoms.
When can Efestad be used?
Efestad oral solution relieves symptoms of allergic rhinitis (allergic nasal allergy such as hay fever or home-made allergy) to adults, adolescents and children over 1 year of age. These symptoms include sneezing, itching and discharge from the nose, itching of the palate, itching, redness or tingling of the eyes.
Efestad oral solution is also used to relieve the symptoms of urticaria (a skin condition caused by an allergy). These symptoms include pruritus and hives.
Removing these symptoms lasts all day and helps you restore your normal daily activity and sleep.
2. What you need to know before taking Efestad
Do not take Efestad
if you are allergic to desloratadine, to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6) or to loratadine.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Efestad
if your kidney function is impaired;
if you or someone in your family has had seizures.
Use in children and adolescents
The medicinal product is not for children under 1 year of age.
Other medications and Efestad
There are no known interactions between Efeostat and other medicines.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Effect of food, beverages and alcohol
Efestad can be taken with food or on an empty stomach.
Be careful if you are taking Efezad and alcohol.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or are breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, it is not recommended to take Efeceda.
No data are available on effects on fertility in males and females.
Driving and using machines
This medicine, used in the recommended dose, is not expected to affect your ability to drive or use machines. Although most people do not experience drowsiness, it is advisable not to carry out activities requiring attention, such as driving and operating machinery, until you have the effect on the medicine.
Efestad oral solution contains sorbitol.
If you have been told by your doctor that you have a sugar intolerance, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.
How to take Efestad
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Children from 1 to 5 years:
The recommended dose is 2.5 ml (half full 5 ml) of the oral solution once a day.
Children from 6 to 11 years:
The recommended dose is 5 ml (one measuring spoon of 5 ml) of the oral solution once a day.
Adults and adolescents (12 years and over):
10 ml (two scoops of 5 ml) of the oral solution once a day.
If the oral solution is supplied with an oral syringe, you can also use it to measure the amount of oral solution.
This medicine is for oral use.
After taking the oral solution, drink some water. You can use the medicine regardless of food intake.
Duration of treatment
With regard to the duration of the course of treatment, your doctor will determine the type of allergic rhinitis you suffer from, and will then determine how long you should take Efeostat oral solution.
If you have intermittent allergic rhinitis (symptoms less than 4 days a week or less than 4 weeks), your doctor will recommend a treatment schedule consistent with the progress of your illness.
If you suffer from persistent allergic rhinitis (the presence of symptoms for 4 or more days a week and for more than 4 weeks), your doctor may recommend longer treatment.
In urticaria, a different duration may be required for different patients in the treatment and therefore you should follow the advice of your doctor.
If you take more Efestad than you should
Take Efestad oral solution only as directed. There are no serious problems with accidental overdosage. However, if you take a higher dose of Efeostat oral solution than you prescribed, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
If you forget to take Efestad
If you forget to take your Efeced dose on time, take it as soon as possible, then continue taking it as prescribed. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
If you stop taking Efestad
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
4. Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. During the post-marketing period of Efeced, very rare cases of severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, wheezing, itching, urticaria and edema) have been reported. If you notice any of these serious side effects, stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical advice immediately.
In clinical trials in adults, the adverse reactions were practically the same as with placebo. However, in children less than 2 years of age than in placebo, more frequent side effects are diarrhea, fever and insomnia, while in adults - fatigue, dry mouth and headache.

changes in liver function.
Not known: frequency can not be estimated from the available data:
yellowing of the skin and / or eyes;
increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, even in cloudy weather, and UV (ultraviolet) light, for example UV light in a solarium;
changes in heart rhythm;
5. How to store Efestad
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Shelf life after first opening: 4 months.
Do not use Efestad after the expiry date which is stated on the bottle. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
If you notice a change in the appearance of the oral solution, tell your pharmacist.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of your unnecessary medicines. These measures will help to protect the environment.

What Efestad contains
The active substance is desloratadine 0.5 mg / ml.
The other ingredients of the oral solution are: sorbitol liquid (E420), non-crystallising, propylene glycol, sucralose E 955, hypromellose 2910, sodium citrate, flavorings, citric acid monohydrate, disodium edetate and purified water.
What Efestad looks like and what the package contains
Effecable oral solution is a clear, colorless solution without visible particles. Efeostat oral solution is available in 50 ml, 50, 60, 100, 120, 150, and 300 ml Type III glass bottles with a child-resistant plastic plug with a polyethylene coating inside. Bottles are packed in cardboard boxes. In all packages, a measuring spoon of 2.5 ml and 5 ml or a 5 ml oral syringe with a label of 0.5 ml each is provided.
