In the elderly, the incidence of side effects, especially bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract and perforation, is higher and sometimes these side effects in the elderly may be fatal. Therefore, patients in this age group should be closely monitored.

Bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, ulcers and perforation
Bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, ulcers and perforation, in some cases fatal, have been reported with NSAIDs. These reactions may occur at any time during treatment, with or without warning symptoms or a history of serious gastrointestinal disease.
The risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration and perforation is higher at dose escalation and in patients who have had ulcers in the past, particularly ulcers, complications, bleeding and perforation (see section 2, "Do not take Flextastic"), and in elderly patients. Such patients should start treatment with the lowest effective dose.
Patients who are prescribed low-dose acetylsalicylic acid or other medicines known to cause gastrointestinal disorders should also be given concomitant medication (such as missoprostol or proton pump inhibitors ).

If you have experienced gastrointestinal side effects in the past, especially if you are elderly, you should report any abnormal abdominal symptoms (such as bleeding), especially if they occurred at the beginning of treatment.

If you take other medicines that may increase the risk of ulcer or bleeding, such as oral corticosteroids, anticoagulants (blood clotting-lowering drugs such as warfarin), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (used to treat depression and other psychiatric disorders) or inhibitors of platelet aggregation (for example, acetylsalicylic acid), your doctor should regularly monitor blood clotting to avoid potential bleeding em (see section 2, "Other medicines and Flexistad").
