• If you have an allergy to another benzodiazepine drug
• If you suffer from myasthenia gravis (severe muscle fatigue)
• If you suffer from acute narrow-angle glaucoma
• If you suffer from severe liver disease
• If you have lung disease
• If you have difficulty breathing during sleep
When should you be particularly careful while taking Bromazepam ?
Be sure to tell your doctor if you have lung, liver or kidney disease. With reduced kidney function, the physician may prescribe lower doses of bromazepam, but in severe deficiency, bromazepam should not be used.
Always tell your doctor if you are prescribed another medicine that is given with or without a prescription. This is extremely important as the co-administration of more than one drug can potentiate or weaken the effect of the drugs administered. There are certain medicines, such as antidepressants, some antibiotics, cimetidine and propranolol, which may increase the effect of bromazepam.
In turn, bromazepam may increase the effects of alcohol, antidepressants, neuroleptics, some analgesics, hypnotics, antihistamines, anticonvulsants.
The use of bromazepam or other benzodiazepines may lead to dependence. Follow the doctor's instructions exactly: Do not take more tablets and do not prolong treatment more than you prescribed.
Do not use alcohol during treatment with bromazepam
Can Bromazepam be used during pregnancy or lactation?
Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Bromazepam may be used during pregnancy only at the express prescription when the benefit outweighs the risk to the newborn.
The use of bromazepam during the last months of pregnancy causes lowering of blood pressure, respiratory failure, and abstinence syndrome in the newborn.
Do not take bromazepam if you are breast-feeding as it passes into breast milk.
Can Bromazepam affect your ability to drive and use machines?
Bromazepam may cause drowsiness or affect your concentration. This can affect the performance of tasks requiring dexterity. Therefore, while taking bromazepam, you avoid driving and operating machinery.
How should Bromazepam be taken?
Always take Bromazepam - Tchaikapharma ® exactly as your doctor has told you. It will determine the dose best suited to you. It is strictly individual and depends on the severity of the symptoms, the age, the individual response to your medicine and your condition.
Usually, the treatment starts with a low initial dose, which gradually increases until the desired effect is achieved.
For non-hospital treatment, the recommended dose for patients is 1.5 to 3 mg of bromazepam administered 3 times a day.
In severe cases and in hospital treatment, the dose may be increased to 6-12 mg of bromazepam administered 2-3 times a day.
If you are elderly or have liver and / or kidney disease, your doctor will prescribe a lower dose than recommended.
Take the tablets with water or other non-alcoholic beverages.
If you forget to take a dose, you should not make up for it by doubling the next one. Instead, just proceed with the next dose when the time comes. Do not change the prescribed dose by your own decision. If you think the effect of the medicine is too weak or too strong, talk to your doctor. If you take too many tablets or someone else accidentally takes your medicine, consult a doctor immediately or contact your nearest hospital for help.
When and how should treatment with Bromazepam be discontinued?
Your doctor will advise you when and how to stop treatment. The cessation of treatment usually occurs by gradual dose reduction. The overall duration of treatment should generally not be longer than 8-12 weeks, including the phasing-out period. Sudden cessation of treatment may result in withdrawal syndrome, which may be headache, muscle aches, severe anxiety, tension, restlessness, confusion and irritability. In severe cases, behavioral changes, pricking, increased sensitivity to light, noise and touch, hallucinations or seizures may occur.
If you stop treatment, the main problem you may have started taking the medicine again may occur. This is less likely to happen if the dose at the end of treatment is gradually reduced.
If for some reason you have continued treatment for longer, you should consult a doctor about stopping it. It may prescribe monitoring of the blood picture and liver function at the same time as gradually stopping it.
What are the possible side effects with Bromazepam?
Sensitization and dizziness may occur in susceptible patients as well as in patients receiving high doses of bromazepam. These side effects usually resolve when the dose is reduced.
As with other benzodiazepines, prolonged use of bromazepam may cause dependence and abrupt withdrawal of therapy may lead to withdrawal syndrome. In children and adults, bromazepam may cause paradoxical reactions such as agitation and hallucinations.
Muscular weakness, confusion, gait disturbance, sleep disturbance, inadequate behavior, reduced tone, speech impairment, reduced memory are rarely observed. Very rare cases of menstrual disturbance, decreased libido, menstrual growth of the male and hypersensitivity reactions have been observed.
