Amlodipine belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel antagonists. Amlodipine is used to treat:
high blood pressure;
chest pain due to the narrowing of the coronary arteries of the heart muscle (angina pectoris angina) or more rare form of chest pain caused by spasm of the coronary arteries of the heart muscle (a vasospastic angina).
If you suffer from high blood pressure, AMLOTERON acts as widens the blood vessels so that blood passes through them more easily.
If you suffer from angina, AMLOTERON acts as the delivery of the blood improves heart muscle that receives more oxygen, and as a result prevent the onset of chest pain. Amlodipine has no immediate effect in relieving chest pain from angina.

Do not take AMLOTERON:
If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to amlodipine or similar calcium channel blocker (so-called dihidropiridinovi derivatives), or any of the other ingredients (for a full list of ingredients see section 6);
If you are suffering from insufficient supply of blood to Your tissues with symptoms such as low blood pressure, a weak pulse, rapid heartbeat (shock, cardiogenic shock, including). Cardiogenic shock means shock as a result of a severe heart problem;
If you have heart failure after a heart attack;
If you suffer from a narrowing of the aorta (aortic stenosis).
