What is Torsit SR 10 mg prolonged-release tablets and what it is used for
Torsit SR belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics. They increase urine output.
TORSIT SR 10 mg is used to treat edema due to congestive heart failure or renal or hepatic disease.

2. What you need to know before you use TORCIT SR 10 mg prolonged-release tablets
Do not use Torsit SR:

if you are allergic to Torasemide, sulphonylurea or any of the other ingredients;
if you suffer from anuria (urinary incontinence);
if you have low blood pressure (hypotension);
if you have a reduced volume of blood (hypovolaemia);
if you have low levels of potassium or sodium in the blood;
if you have severely impaired hepatic function with blurred vision (liver coma or transient);
if you have significant difficulty in urinating;
if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Warnings and precautions
Take special care with Torsit SR:

if you have heart disease and especially if you are taking cardiac glycosides, this can lead to cardiac arrhythmias;
if you have diabetes or gout;
if you have kidney failure.

Other medicines and Torsit SR
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

The following medicines may affect or be affected by Torsit SR:

medicines for the treatment of high blood pressure, especially a group of them called ACE inhibitors;
medicines used in heart failure such as digoxin or methyldigoxin;
medicines containing corticosteroids such as methylprednisolone, prednisolone, hydrocortisone;
all medicines to treat constipation;
medicines used for inflammation and pain (eg acetylsalicylic acid, indomethacin, ibuprofen);
medicines used to treat diabetes;
certain antibiotics such as cefalexin, cefuroxime, gentamicin, amikacin, tobramycin;
lithium, a medicine used in severe depressions or manic conditions;
theophylline, a medicine used in asthma;
cisplatin, a medicine for the treatment of cancer;
probenecid, a medicine used in gout;
adrenaline and noradrenaline, medicines to increase blood pressure or heart rate;
cholestyramine, a lipid lowering drug in the blood;
some medicines used for muscle relaxation in surgical interventions.
Torsit SR with food and drinks
Tablets can be taken regardless of meals.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or are breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Torasemide should not be used during pregnancy due to lack of data.
There is no evidence that toremagmite passes into breast milk in animals and humans.
If your doctor thinks you should be treated with Torsit SR, you should stop breast-feeding.

Driving and using machines

3. How to take TORSIT SR 10 mg

Always take Torsit SR exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Application method
Oral use (oral)
Your doctor will determine the duration of treatment with Torsit SR. Do not stop treatment earlier, as your condition may get worse. The tablets should be taken as a whole, without breaking or chewing with enough water. Tablets can be taken regardless of meals.

Adults
Edema due to congestive heart failure, liver or kidney disease
Unless otherwise stated, treatment with Torsit SR 10 mg is indicated if a dose of torasemide is required higher than 5 mg per day.
Depending on the severity and response of your condition, your doctor may increase the amount of torasemide to 40 mg once a day.

Patients over 65 years of age
Elderly patients do not need to change the recommended dose.

Use in children
Since there is insufficient experience of using torasemide in children, its use is not recommended in this age group.
Please tell your doctor if you think the effect of Torsit SR is too strong or too weak.
If you have used more Torsit SR than needed
If you have mistakenly taken too many tablets, talk to your doctor. An overdose may lead to increased urine output, with the risk of fluid and electrolyte loss, which may lead to drowsiness and confusion, hypotension, collapse, and gastrointestinal complaints.

If you forget to take Torsit SR

increased content of alkaline substances in the body;
muscle cramps (especially at the beginning of treatment);
increased concentration of uric acid, glucose and lipids in the blood;
decreased blood volume;
decreased sodium and potassium in the blood;
lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, stomach pain;
elevation of some liver enzymes e.g. gamma-glutamyl transferase (γ-GT);
headache, fatigue, weakness (especially at the beginning of treatment).
Uncommon: (affects 1 to 10 users in 1,000):

increased levels of creatinine and urea in the blood;
bladder swelling in patients with prostatic hypertrophy due to difficulty urinating;
dry mouth;
numbness of the hands or feet.
Very rare: (affects less than 1 user in 10,000):

disturbance of heart rhythm;
angina pectoris (chest tooth);
heart attack;
confusion;
excessive reduction in blood pressure;
seizures;
inflammation of the pancreas;
allergic reactions, itching, photosensitivity;
decreased number of platelets, erythrocytes and / or leukocytes;
visual disturbances;
tinnitus, hearing loss.
5. How to store Torsit SR 10 mg prolonged-release tablets
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Do not use Torsit SR after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.
Do not dispose of medicines in the sewers or in the household waste container.
Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help to protect the environment.
