What is Prestarium CO Start and what it is used for

Prestarium Co Start is a combination of two active ingredients - perindopril and amlodipine. Both ingredients help to control your high blood pressure.

Perindopril is an ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor. Amlodipine is a calcium antagonist (belongs to a class of medicines called dihydropyridines). They act together by expanding and relaxing the blood vessels to make the blood flow through them more easily and to make your heart easier to maintain good blood flow.

Prestarium Start is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults.

2. What you need to know before you take Prestarium Startup

Do not take Prestarium Startup

if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to perindopril or any of the other ACE inhibitors or to amlodipine or other calcium antagonists or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6); if you have severe kidney problems;

if you have experienced symptoms such as swirling breathing, swelling of the face or tongue, intense pruritus or severe skin rash during treatment with ACE inhibitors in the past or if you or a member of your family have experienced similar symptoms in any other circumstances is called angioedema);

if you have a narrowing of the aortic heart valve (aortic stenosis) or cardiogenic shock

if you have very low blood pressure (hypotension);

if you suffer from heart failure as a result of a heart attack;

if you have kidney problems where your blood supply to your kidneys is reduced (renal artery stenosis).

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking Prestarium Startup if:

you have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a heart muscle disease); you have heart failure;

you have a severe increase in blood pressure (hypertension); you have other heart problems; you have liver problems;

have kidney problems (including kidney transplant);

you have abnormally elevated levels of a hormone called aldosterone in your blood (primary aldosteronism);

have a collagen vascular disease (connective tissue disease), such as systemic lupus erythematosus or scleroderma; you have diabetes;

adhere to a diet with limited intake of salt or use potassium salt substitutes that contain potassium (it is essential that the blood potassium level is well balanced);

you are elderly and your dose should be increased;

take any of the following medicines used to treat high blood pressure:

3. How to take Prestarium Startup
