What is quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide aurobindo and what it is used for
Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  contains medicines called (i) quinapril and (ii) and hydrochlorothiazide. Both medicines lower blood pressure.
(i) Quinapril belongs to a class of medicines known as "ACE inhibitors". Quinapril helps the blood vessels to relax, thereby reducing blood pressure.
(ii) Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics (also known as "drainage tablets"). Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits the ability of the kidneys to retain fluids and this leads to a decrease in blood pressure.

Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure in patients who are already taking (i) quinapril and (ii) hydrochlorothiazide as separate tablets and who will be facilitated by taking one tablet containing both substances.


Do not take Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  if:

you are allergic (hypersensitive) to:
quinapril hydrochloride;
other ACE inhibitors;
medicines containing sulfonamides;
to any of the other ingredients of Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo;
you have experienced severe allergic reactions to previous ACE inhibitor treatment. These reactions lead to swelling of the face, arms or legs, lips, tongue or throat, causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing (angioedema);
if you suffer from hereditary or caused swelling of the skin (angioedema) for unknown reasons;
if you have severe liver or kidney problems;
if you have aortic stenosis (narrowing of the main blood vessel coming out of the heart);
If you are more than 3 months pregnant. (It is also good to avoid Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo early in pregnancy - see section "Pregnancy").
Take special care with Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo
Before you take Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo, tell your doctor if:

have heart, liver or kidney problems;
you have lost a large amount of body fluids or salts (vomiting, diarrhea, sweating more than usual, a diet with limited salt intake, diuretics (drainage tablets) for a prolonged period of time, or previously dialysis;
you have allergies or asthma;
Your treatment for reducing the allergy to stinging bees or wasps (desensitization);
it is known that you have an obstruction (blockage) at the output of the heart;
you have a collagen vascular disease such as scleroderma or systemic lupus erythematosus;
You are going for a treatment called LDL cholesterol removal apheresis;
you have diabetes or gout;
you are a woman of childbearing potential, consult your doctor about effective co-reception;
breastfeeding or you will start breastfeeding.
You should tell your doctor if you think you are (or may be) pregnant. Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo is not recommended in early pregnancy and should not be taken if you are more than 3 months pregnant as it may cause serious harm to your baby if used during this period (see section "Pregnancy" ).
More frequent medical check-ups may be required at the start of treatment. Your doctor will decide how often you will be examined. You should not miss these visits, even if you feel well.
If your blood pressure drops too much, you should lie down. You may need medical attention.

Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

The effects of Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  may be influenced or influenced by the following medicines:

Other medicines that lower blood pressure;
Diuretics (medicines for drainage);
Medications that lead to increased levels of potassium in the blood:
blood thinners (eg heparin);
potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium;
Lithium used in psychiatric disorders;
Medicines that have a sedative effect, including alcoholic beverages and sleeping pills;

Allopurinol used for the treatment of gout;
Ciclosporin and other medicines used to suppress the immune response;
Medicines used in the treatment of cancer;
Tetracycline is an antibiotic.
Remember to tell the medical staff that you are taking Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo. This is especially important if you go to a hospital for surgery,
Like all medicines, Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Adverse reactions are listed according to their frequency as follows:

Common: affects 1 to 10 in 100 patients;
Uncommon: affects 1 to 10 in 1,000 patients;
Rare: affects 1 to 10 in 10,000 patients;
Very rare: affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients;
Not known: no data can be estimated from the available data.
The following side effects are serious and require immediate action if given. You should stop taking Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide Aurobindo and visit your doctor immediately if the following symptoms occur:

heart attack.

angina (heartache);
"mini" stroke.

swelling of the face, tongue and breathing tube, which can make breathing extremely difficult.
Very rare:

Severe abdominal pain;
Bowel obstruction.
With unknown frequency:

Anemia causing shortness of breath or pale skin;
The occurrence of bleeding or bruising is more common than usual;
Increased susceptibility to infections causing fever, sore throat or mouth ulcers;
Severe, extensive skin rash with blistering;
Sudden allergic reaction with shortness of breath, rash, wheezing and falling blood pressure;
(Too large a decrease in blood pressure can cause a heart attack, stroke or mini-stroke).

The following side effects have also been reported:
Common side effects:

Sleep disorders;
A drop in blood pressure on standing that causes dizziness, diminution or seizure;
Upper respiratory tract inflammation, cough, viral infection;
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, abdominal pain;
Headache, fatigue, weakness;
Muscle pain, back pain, chest pain;
Changes in the results of some blood tests that indicate kidney function.

Urinary tract infections, kidney problems;
Retention of fluid causing swelling of tissues;
Confusion, anxiety, depression;
Development of diabetes. Patients with diabetes may need treatment adjustments;
Tingling (feeling of "needles");
Taste disorders, visual disturbances, tinnitus (tinnitus);
Disturbed or accelerated heart rhythm, palpitations;
Lowering blood pressure, seizures;
Difficulty in breathing, dry mouth;
Skin rash, increased sensitivity of the skin to light, itching, hair loss;
Joint pain;
Virus infection;
Impaired sexual function;
Formation of gases.

Balance problems;
Inflammation of the tongue;
Inflammation of the lungs;
Inflammation of the blood vessels (vasculitis);
Fever, muscle pain and joint pain accompanied by skin problems.
Very rare:

Nettle fever.
With unknown frequency:

Inflammation of the pancreas causing abdominal pain;
Liver problems that can cause jaundice (yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes);
Changes in the results of blood tests that show how the liver works;
Increase in cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.
If any of the side effects gets serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.

Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Do not use Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and blister after EXP. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
Store below 25 ° C.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
What Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  contains
The active substances are quinapril (such as quinapril hydrochloride) and hydrochlorothiazide.
Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  10 mg / 12.5 mg film-coated tablets contains 10 mg quinapril equivalent to 10.83 mg quinapril hydrochloride and 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide.

Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  20 mg / 12.5 mg film-coated tablets contains 20 mg quinapril equivalent to 21.66 mg quinapril hydrochloride and 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide.

Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  20 mg / 25 mg film-coated tablets contains 20 mg quinapril equivalent to 21.66 mg quinapril hydrochloride and 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide.

The other ingredients are:
Tablet core: lactose monohydrate, magnesium carbonate, heavy, crospovidone (Type: A), povidone (K30), magnesium stearate.
Tablet Coating (Opadry Pink): Hypromellose, Titanium Dioxide (E171), Hydroxypropyl Cellulose, Macrogol 400, Iron Oxide, Red (E172), Iron Oxide, Yellow (E172).

Film-coated tablets.
20 mg / 25mg:
Pink, oval, biconvex film-coated tablets with "D" embossed on one side and "18" on the other.

Quinapril / hydrochlorothiazide  film-coated tablets are available in blister packs containing 7, 10, 14, 20, 28, 30, 42, 50, 56, 60, 84, 90, 98, 100, 156, 250 and 500 film-coated tablets.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
